About Our Staff & Office

The Western Pennsylvania Eye Institute has a long heritage that dates back to 1950 when Dorsey R. Hoyt, M.D. began the practice in Indiana, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Hoyt was an eyes, ears, nose and throat specialist.  He brought on Robert G. Goldstrohm, M.D., an ophthalmologist who had been a family practitioner prior to returning to the University of Pittsburgh for his subspecialty training. They practiced together for a number of years before Dr. Goldstrohm assumed sole ownership of the practice upon Dr. Hoyt's death and practiced until 1993. Tom Trevorrow, M.D. purchased the practice and began practicing in 1994. Dr. Trevorrow grew up in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania and has lived in Indiana since 1994.

In 2010 we felt that a name change more appropriately reflected our growing staff of doctors and our emphasis on new technologies. Thus, we changed our name to the Western Pennsylvania Eye Institute. We continue to provide the high quality and personal care that you have come to expect, and with the resources of multiple doctors we are able to provide more expedited services and purchase the newest in medical equipment advances. In addition, we are happy to provide surgical and consultative services to those patients who already have an eye care provider.

All of our staff members are highly trained, caring and friendly people from Indiana and the surrounding areas.  In fact, many of the faces you see in our office have been here for more than 20 years.  Our goal is to provide quality, friendly care keeping in mind that patients are people first.  We pride ourselves in doing only those procedures that are necessary to make our patients' lives better.
